Exotis Mambruk
Indonesia has various exotic birds that often become targets of illegal trade, which certainly has a negative impact on wildlife populations.
Aviary Park Indonesia, in collaboration with BKSDA, is very concerned about the safety of these animals. The birds rescued by BKSDA are placed in Aviary Park Indonesia as part of rehabilitation and recovery efforts.
Here, they live better in an environment that resembles their natural habitat, free from the threat of wildlife trade. One of the rescued animals is the Mambruk bird, a native of Papua, which has a unique crest resembling a crown on its head. The Mambruk bird, or Victoria crowned pigeon (Goura Victoria), based on research data in the wild, has only 2-7 individuals km². It has become Aviary Park's duty to preserve the existence of this bird. To see the Mambruk bird, visit Aviary Park Indonesia located in the Bintaro Creative District, South Tangerang.
Several bird species scattered across West Papua often become targets for capture to be sold in the market. However, this trade negatively impacts wildlife populations, including several bird species that are now under threat. Sulawesi has become a hub for the wildlife trade from Eastern Indonesia. From here, the birds are usually taken and marketed more widely.
Fortunately, conservation efforts are becoming stronger. The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) successfully rescued a number of birds that were being traded. These birds were then placed in a zoo in Sulawesi as part of rehabilitation and recovery efforts.
From this zoo, several selected birds have been moved to the aviary at Park Indonesia. The aviary provides an opportunity for these birds to readapt and become conservation ambassadors for visitors who want to learn more about the importance of wildlife protection.
